The Soldier's Prayer.

Oh the winter's always bitter

but Lord this one beats all

The cold and wind ain't quit for weeks now

and the drifts are growing tall

And I've been all night in this tower

watching over outer ground

And I just can't keep from thinking

about the ones the wolves pulled out.

There was a service for two Soldiers,

I went today to say good-bye

As those flag draped coffins passed us

we fought so hard not to cry

I'm sure they'd spoken to their families

and said they'd soon be back in town

And I just can't keep from thinking

about the ones the wolves pulled out.

Lord, please shine a light of hope

On those of us, who're still behind

And when we struggle in the snow

Would you help us up, while there's still time?

I don't mean to be complaining Lord,

You've always seen me through

And I know You got Your reasons

for each and everything You do

But tonight outside this tower,

there's a lonesome, mournful sound

And I just can't keep from thinking

about the one's the wolves pulled out.

Lord, keep me from being

the one the wolves pull out.
