Abba
Father, all the possibilities of my human language are
exhausted in setting forth the fullness and perfection of Your
Word. You are the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the
Last! You are every thing of goodness and perfection that can
be expressed by every letter of the alphabet, arranged in
every possible combination. As I read Your Word in Psalms 119
it expresses Your love which Your Son, my Lord experienced
here on earth.
I am blessed and happy when my life is conformed to Your Word. Even when
I sin and fail, there is provision in Your Word for confession
and restoration, and this keeps me in an undefiled condition.
Hallelujah! I give You praise and glory!
As I read Your Word I have a deep enormous desire to please You with my
whole heart. I find that the surest way to abstain from evil
is to be completely occupied with following Your Word in deeds
and actions. Your precepts are not optional but commandments
and they are not to be kept haphazardly but diligently.
Father I acknowledge that the desire to keep Your commandments as well
as the power to be steadfast in obedience must ultimately
comes from You. As long as I keep Your statutes I will be
spared from the shame that tortures the mind, crimsons the
cheek and even at times makes the body squirm.
As I journey with You in prayer and learn to obey Your righteous
ordinances, I become full of joy and that joy leads to a
spontaneous adoration of You. Father I humbly depend on You
for all my needs as I realize my own inadequacies.
With my whole heart I seek You, O God. Do not let me wonder from Your
commandments. The best book in the World is Your Book and the
best place to put it is in my heart. The best reason for
putting it there is that is saves me from sinning against You.
There is a deep delight in the treasures of Your Word that
inevitably gives me the desire to share it with others. There
are many nuggets of gold in Your Scriptures. Your Word
provides endless resource material for the most satisfying
meditations.
Your commandments are not burdensome!
"Whoever is born of God will delight in the statures
of the Lord and determine to keep them in constant
remembrance." (1John 5:3) Without You, O God, I can do nothing. I need Your grace for living and
also for obeying Your Word. I ask for Your plenteous grace, O
Lord for my needs are so great.
Open my eyes to see Your wondrous, spiritual goodies, which are hidden
by the casual glance. Your Word, O God is like a road map that
guides me unerringly to my destination. My soul thirsts O
Lord, for Your Word and I find strength and solace in
meditating on Your Word. When others speak harshly to me,
Your Word is my counselor and it counsels me to bear it
patiently and commit the cause to You. Hallelujah! Thank You
Abba Father for Your Word!
Father life has its valleys as well as its mountaintops. So even when I
am cast down in sorrow, I know I can call on You to revive me
through the restoring power of Your word.
I thank You that when I make an open confession of my sins; You answer
me by forgiving. This leads me to a renewed desire for
holiness, as expressed by prayer, “Lord, teach me Your
statues." I need to understand the meaning of Your precepts so
I can apply them practically to my life and then it will lead
me to meditate on Your wonderful works.
In the dark spots of life when my soul melts in tears, You the God of
all comfort, bends low and often with a single verse of
Scripture lifts me and strengthen me to go on. Your commands
must be set before us as a mark to aim at, the model to work
by and the road to walk in.
Father, I try hard to adhere to Your testimonies, but I realize I still
have the proneness to wonder, and I cry to You in conscious
dependence. That when You give me a big heart, not a big head
and then I hasten to keep Your commandments.
Father I pray for Your instructions. I am eager to learn how to
translate Your precepts into practice and I am determined to
obey Your Word to the end of my life.
I pray for understanding. I want the righteousness of Your word and of
their meaning and obligations. How else can I follow You with
undivided devotedness?
I pray for guidance. My spirit is willing but my flesh is weak. Guide my
feet in the path of Your will, because that is the only way in
which I will be truly happy.
I pray for spiritual rather than material enrichments. "Godliness
with contentment is great gain." (1 Tim. 6:6) Father its Your miracle of grace that takes the love of
money from man and replaces it with a love for Your Word.
I pray for divine realities, not shadows. Turn away my eyes from looking
at worthless things. O Lord I pray that You would establish
Your promises, "All the rivers of thy grace I claim; over
every promise write my name."
Father I pray to be kept from reproach, from anything that would bring
shame or dishonor on Your name. For Your judgments are good; I
need to follow them faithfully. Father, I pray for personal
revival. "The parched ground shall become a pool, and the
thirsty land springs of water." (Isaiah 35:7) Your word says
if I burn and long for Your precepts, You will revive me in
Your righteousness.
Father, I am dependent on Your compassion and protection so I claim Your
promises to care for and keep me day by day. My faith is based
on Your Word, which never fails. May I never be afraid or
ashamed to speak the Word of Truth. How else can I give my
best for You and live for You completely after all You have
done for Me. Lord keep me teachable by Your Holy Spirit.
